Poplar-Assisted Bioremediation for Recovering a PCB and Heavy-Metal-Contaminated Area

چکیده
A Monviso clone has been applied to promote PCB degradation in a soil historically contaminated by polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and heavy metals (HMs). The multi-contaminated area is located Southern Italy. PCBs, HMs, the microbial community (abundance, viability, structure) were analysed selected plots of poplar-treated area. At 900 days after poplar planting, chemical analyses showed that PCBs most HMs diminished under Italian legal limits. overall results suggest was effective promoting rhizodegradation HM phytostabilization. Organic carbon content increased strongly rhizosphere planted plots. Microbiological highlighted an increase abundance, cell presence bacterial groups involved degradation. poplar-based bioremediation technology nature-based solution able recovery quality terms contaminant removal, organic carbon, stimulation autochthonous transform PCBs.

Pressure-assisted cyclic washing of heavy-metal-contaminated sediments
Remediation of heavy-metal-contaminated sediment is often hampered by the availability of heavy metals to the added chemical agents because the heavy metals are often shielded by the sediment matrix. Effective heavy-metal extraction technique becomes an important factor in enhancing the treatment efficiency. A novel extraction/washing technique utilizing chelating agent and elevated pressure in...
متن کاملMicrobial and Plant-Assisted Bioremediation of Heavy Metal Polluted Environments: A Review
Environmental pollution from hazardous waste materials, organic pollutants and heavy metals, has adversely affected the natural ecosystem to the detriment of man. These pollutants arise from anthropogenic sources as well as natural disasters such as hurricanes and volcanic eruptions. Toxic metals could accumulate in agricultural soils and get into the food chain, thereby becoming a major threat...
متن کاملRemediation technologies for heavy metal contaminated groundwater.
The contamination of groundwater by heavy metal, originating either from natural soil sources or from anthropogenic sources is a matter of utmost concern to the public health. Remediation of contaminated groundwater is of highest priority since billions of people all over the world use it for drinking purpose. In this paper, thirty five approaches for groundwater treatment have been reviewed an...
متن کاملBasic concepts on heavy metal soil bioremediation
The utilization of organisms, primarily microbes, to clean up contaminated soils, aquifers, sludges, residues, and air, known as “bioremediation”, is a rapidly changing and expanding area of environmental biotechnology, that offers a potentially more effective and economical clean-up technique than conventional physicochemical methods. Although it is certain that up to now the technologies empl...
متن کاملScreening for Autochthonous Phytoextractors in a Heavy Metal Contaminated Coal Mining Area
In order to protect public health and crops from soil heavy metal (HM) contamination at a coal mining area in Henan, central China, HM pollution investigation and screening of autochthonous HM phytoextractors were conducted. The concentrations of cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) in surface soils exceeded the corresponding local background values and the China National Standard...
